understand that some children with ASD get depression.


want to know how to detect if child has depression or suicidal and how to prevent? don't want my child to go to IMH if not managed properly.

Depression is not uncommon with children and adolescents. One of the psychiatrist from Kennedy K. Institute mentioned that it may range upto 57%.

In broad terms, the depression signs and symptoms could be noticed in Neuro-Biological, Social, Emotional and Pro-Social domains. And since the people with ASD have developmental challenges in this area, it gets even harder to identify the classical depression symptoms,

The symptoms will vary from person to person, in different age group.

I suggest that you consult the mental health psychologist/ therapist externally, It would be helpful to seek professional help.

    hello everyone. this is my first time posting. i have a child with autism. he's currently 25 months. just diagnosed with ASD a few weeks ago. i've heard of EIPIC, but it has a long waiting list! what are the early intervention therapies >$1.5k that are recommended? or even occupational therapy? what are the differences? thanks
